Race Driver Grid was developed and published by Codemasters, the creators of the TOCA series. it's a game during which the player runs their own race team, acting because the primary driver. As players progress they gain sponsors and may hire a teammate to drive alongside them in certain events.

A fourth instalment, simply referred to as Grid, was announced to be released on 13 September 2019 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Development
Race Driver Grid uses Codemasters' own Ego engine, an updated version of the Neon engine already getting used in their previous release Colin McRae: Dirt. The damage code has been completely rewritten to permit for environments with the potential for persistent damage.Ambisonics was utilized in the audio engine of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
